The contractor who reportedly dumped an injured worker on the roadside last Tuesday has been charged with 20 offences, which range from breaches of health and safety regulations to employment law and criminal offences.
The man, Glen Farrugia, even urged his ex-employee – Jatieh Lamin – to lie and say that he was hit by a car, instead of admitting that he was injured on site. Jaiteh was regretfully found lying on a pavement in Selmun.
Farrugia has been charged with involuntarily causing Jaiteh’s bodily harm; negligence that led to his injuries; as well as attempting to destroy evidence at the scene of crime, among more. Farrugia was charged this morning before magistrate Nadine Lia, who revealed that prior to court, Farrugia did not co operate with the police.
Following this crude incident – wherein Jaiteh suffered a fractured spine – a company in Birkirkara, Clima755, has stepped up to offer Jatieh a job after he fully recovers.
Several lawyers even offered legal support for free to Jatieh, who is currently recovering at Mater Dei Hospital.
