Disney is set to give Cinderella’s evil stepsisters a moment to shine with a movie of their own from Bridesmaids’ duo Kristin Wiig and Annie Mumolo!
That’s right – the two evil sisters will have their story told for the very first time by Bridesmaids’ writers Wiig and Mumolo, who recently collaborated on the comedy Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar.
Whilst the upcoming movie remains untitled for the time being, the Disney project is in early development and we do know that it will be a live-action movie.
Wiig recently starred in Wonder Woman 1984 as Mumolo’s upcoming project is alongside Kristen Bell in the movie Queenpins. Back in 2012, the pair shared an Oscar nomination for the Best Writing Original Screenplay for their work on the comedy Bridesmaids.
Meanwhile, Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum are set to produce the movie under Gloria Sanchez Productions.
As per speculations, the upcoming project is thought to be a fairy tale musical that re-tells and reimagines the story of Cinderella. The narrative will travel from the events of early childhood and will go beyond Cinderella’s marriage too.
This comes after Cinderella was made into a live-action reboot back in 2015, with Mamma Mia star Lily James as Cinderella, and stepsisters Drisella and Anastasia were portrayed by Sophie McShera and Holliday Grainger.
