Chris Birdd Sits Down With Jake On Malta’s Top 10 To Discuss How He Keeps Up With His Constant Flow Of Music

Chris Birdd is a twenty-three-year-old Hip Hop artist and producer from Malta who is now based in London. Over the past few years, Chris has remained heavily involved in the music scene, and he recently sat down with Jake on Malta’s Top 10 to discuss everything from how he started, to where he’s headed…

As for where it all began, Chris shared that although his parents supported what he wanted to do in life – aka, music – they wanted to find a middle ground, so he went to school.

He explained, ‘I went to music school, production school, and I attended like 10% of the classes, but I did it to make them happy and it got me into the scene’. Chris also added how going to school helped him meet other talented artists and ultimately, helped him grow from there.

And if you’re familiar with Chris’ music and socials, then you’d recognise that he’s always on the grind, releasing new music every two weeks. However, this requires some serious focus, determination, and above all, inspiration, so Chris let us in on what his ultimate muse is…

‘I write about stuff I go through mainly, and stuff that my friends and the people around me and family go through’, he explained, ‘sometimes I’ll hear a melody or a song that I never heard before and something just catches my ear…but sometimes I can write 7 songs in a week and not like anything’.

As for what he believed influenced his style, there were too many to mention – but it goes from Rock, to Hip Hop, R&B, and even the Blues!

Jake then asked him the burning question of collab plans, and Chris revealed that he has a couple songs with Ben Miller and has also written a few songs with local sensations such as Luke Chappell and Eddie Fresco. He also shared that some of them are ready, so we could be looking at a hot drop anytime soon…

And as you know by now, Chris is mostly based in the UK, and whilst he reassured us that there is ample support from the local scene, his music is ‘a bit better received abroad’, which makes sense – given that his fanbase was mostly built abroad.

It’s the constant flow of content that allows Chris to reach more people, but as for what he thinks Malta’s music scene needs, it’s more collaborations, ‘a lot of people are scared to collaborate with other artists’, he explained, ‘there’s a lot of talented people here and people need to be inspired more by what’s trending’.
