Chelsea confirm Frank Lampard’s first signing

The winter transfer window might be over but Roman Abramovich’s Chelsea have confirmed Frankie Lampard’s first transfer under his reign.

Ajax wonderkid Hakim Ziyech will join the Blues at the end of this season after 4 fantastic years with the Dutch side.

The Moroccan’s move from Ajax to Chelsea has been confirmed by both clubs with the transfer costing an initial €40m.

Chelsea could see the 26-year-old’s fee could rise to €44m depending on bonuses as Frank Lampard lands his first signing since arriving as head coach at Stamford Bridge last summer.

Ziyech has been a true revelation for the Dutch side and helped inspire their formidable run to the Champions League semi-finals in the previous season, eventually losing to Tottenham Hotspur.

The attacking right winger is considered to be a goal machine both acing goals and well needed assists for the London side having struck 48 goals and assisted 82 times in 160 games with Ajax.

Chelsea were prohibited from making any signings by football body FIFA last summer.

Eventually that  sanction was lifted last month, but Lampard’s side opted not to buy any players despite supporters begging otherwise.
