CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Rashford sends Man United through the quarter finals

No club has ever progressed to the next round of the Champions League after losing the first leg of a knockout match at home by two or more goals.

None of the last six English sides to face PSG at the Parc des Princes had ever won. In fact, the only English team to prevail away from home versus PSG were José Mourinho’s Chelsea way back in September 2004.

PSG held a 2-0 advantage after their victory at Old Trafford three weeks ago, but as an incredible second leg unfolded, a Romelu Lukaku double put an injury-ravished United side 2-1 ahead on the night before Marcus Rashford fired home a dramatic last-minute penalty, awarded with the aid of VAR, to send the Reds through to the quarter-finals on away goals.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said before the game this wasn’t mission impossible and the Reds certainly had a right good go at the task. Within two minutes of the kick-off the deficit had already been halved.
And that is exactly what happened.
Meanwhile Roma were eliminated from the Champions League after losing 3-1 on aggregate against Porto.
The Portuguese side were given a penealty during extra-time – 3 minutes before the penealty shoot-out.
