After finishing fourth in her preliminary round race at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics on Friday, Malta’s Olympic sprinter Carla Scicluna advanced to the 100 meters first round heats.
Scicluna finished with in the preliminary round with a timing of 12.11 seconds, following Indonesia’s Alvin Tehupeiory, Malawi’s Asimenye Simwaka and Joella Lloyd from Antigua and Barbuda.
Scicluna’s fourth-place finish was enough to secure her a spot in Round One of the 100-meter women’s heat, according to Olympic qualification standards.
Scicluna’s time was 0.06 seconds better than her personal best. At 15:47 am local time, she will now participate in Heat Five of Round One of the women’s 100-meter dash.
