Infrastructure Malta will be issuing a call for offers today for the newly-announced Msida Creek Project. This project will give a total facelift to the Msida Creek Area, also known as, that part of Msida which always floods whenever it rains – just go back to a couple of days ago.
Through this project, the Msida traffic lights will be completely eliminated, and will be replaced by two new flyovers, which will link drivers coming from Valletta and Pieta to the hill which takes you to the Skatepark, and vice-versa, they will link those who would be driving down from the Skatepark onto Pieta and Valletta.
Side slip-roads will take drivers from Birkirkara onto the hill, and from the hill, onto Sliema and Gzira. The area close to the Worker’s Monument will be turned into a new green space, while there are also plans for a new rainwater collection system.
There is no known date for the closing of the call, or even for the target date of commencement of the project, however, it will probably be some time next year, after the Marsa Junction Project would have been completed.
