Britney Spears has had enough.
Spears has finally shared her thoughts and feelings about her highly publicized conservatorship where she expressed that she feels depressed and that her management should be in jail.
For quite a long time, she has endured an ongoing legal battle with her father to regain control of her estate and her life.
At the moment, Jamie Spears has conservatorship over Britney and he became her conservator in 2007 following a public breakdown which resulted in being admitted to hospital for her mental health.
Currently, Britney’s father has had sole control over most of her financial and career affairs ever since.
Conservatorships are a court-ordered arrangement, typically reserved for the most extreme cases, in which someone is unable to care for themselves or their basic needs, such as very elderly people with dementia.
Fans of the singer have been very vocal about their concern for her. The #FreeBritney movement, which ultimately aims to free Spears from the control of her father, has garnered widespread attention online.
Last year, Britney appealed to have Jamie removed as conservator despite agreeing that the conservatorship had ‘rescued her from a collapse.
On Wednesday, Britney finally gave a personal statement about how ‘unhappy’ she is about the conservatorship.
Spears said: ‘The last time I spoke to you [the judge] … made me feel like I was dead. I am telling you again because I am not lying … so maybe you can understand the depth and the degree and the damages … I deserve changes.’
Furthermore, she said that she didn’t speak up before since she didn’t believe anyone would believe her. She added that she thought that people would make fun of her when in reality she just wants her life back.
Britney said that she would honestly like to sue her family and share her story with the world.
