There’s some relief for Malta’s drivers.
Industrial action at petrol stations across Malta and Gozo has been suspended ahead of talks between union bosses and government officials this weekend.
The decision means that automatic petrol pumps will be working all night from Friday evening until Saturday morning.
The GRTU, which represents petrol station owners, said the decision was taken as a ‘sign of goodwill’ to the nation’s motorists.
Since Tuesday, filling up your car has been impossible after 6pm when the service stations close.
The dispute is over plans to modernise Malta’s garages and upgrade their facilities by next year.
Malta’s Resources Minister Joe Mizzi is expected to hold a meeting with the GRTU on Saturday to try to resolve the issue.
