The 33-year old had rented a boat with her son and was last seen on Wednesday at 1pm. The child, who was found alone hours later, sleeping in the boat, and still wearing his life vest, had told the investigators that after he and his mum were swimming, she failed to return to the boat.
Sheriff Bill Ayub said that they have been in close contact with Naya’s family at this difficult time and also sent his solidarity, and condolences not only to her family, but to her dedicated fans.
Rivera’s body will now be taken for an autopsy and identity match through dental records.
Ventura County Sheriff Ayub said that the case is being treated as an unfortunate accident and that there is no suspicion of foul play or suicide.
Lake Piru has claimed many lives over the years – with park officials saying that this has to do with wind gusts and deep columns of chilly water on the lake, which is up to 160 feet deep, depending on the time of year, which can overtake swimmers quickly.
