A major blockchain company is to create 200 new jobs in Malta.
DQR Group will move its headquarters from Germany to Sliema.
The company currently employs 65 people in Malta and has invested €6 million in two offices on the island.
Chief executive Kristian Haehndal said: ‘Malta will undoubtedly become the worldwide epicentre of the blockchain ecosystem in the near future.
‘We at DQR Group are proud to be part of this success.’
Parliamentary Secretary for Digital Economy Silvio Schembri welcomed the announcement.
He told 89.7 Bay: ‘DQR’s contribution to the Maltese government masterplan is essential.
‘DQR Group is a strong, strategic ally when it comes to attracting the big player to Malta’s table, thus encouraging the broader community to migrate their services to Malta.
‘This will bring us closer to fulfilling our goal of becoming the obvious choice for companies operating in this sphere.
‘Their presence will cement Malta’s reputation as The Blockchain Island.’
