Luke Perry – best known as the heartthrob who rose to fame on Beverly Hills 90210 – has died days after suffering a massive stroke.
The actor, who played rebel Dylan McKay in the hit TV series was 52.
He was rushed to hospital in California last week following a stroke at his Los Angeles home.
His publicist Arnold Robinson confirmed the death on Monday evening.
He said in a statement: ‘Actor Luke Perry, 52, passed away today after suffering a massive stroke.’
He revealed that Luke was ‘surrounded’ by his loved ones when he passed away.
He added: ‘The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning.’
Tributes poured in for Mr Perry, with his Riverdale co-star Molly Ringwald saying she was heartbroken.
She posted a message on Twitter, writing: ‘My heart is broken. I will miss you so much Luke Perry. Sending all my love to your family.’
Born and raised in rural Ohio, the actor gained fame on the hugely popular US drama series Beverly Hills 90210, which ran from 1990 to 2000.
