Hilarious New Year photos as Gozo welcomes 2020

Gozo has welcomed 2020 with a spectacular street party and fireworks display.

A huge crowd gathered in Independence Square in Victoria for the free event, where Auld Lang Syne rang out at midnight.

The New Year’s Eve party, organised by the Ministry of Gozo, included a night of music, dancing and fireworks.

Fantastic street performers kept people entertained in the hours before.

Performances from hit music star Becky Hill and 89.7 Bay presenter J Joy kept the crowd buzzing before the clock at the Citadel in Victoria struck midnight.

We’ve rounded up some of the best images from the night, snapped by talented photographer Terry Camilleri from the Ministry for Gozo.

Organisers at VisitGozo.com described the show as ‘a resounding success’.

Meanwhile Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana wrote on Facebook: ‘An amazing night indeed.

‘Becky Hill was truly splendid and made the event special.

‘Thank you the DCapitals Big Band, Michela and Friends, J Joy, Clint Bajada, Ivy Walls, Benny Jee, Richard Grech and all the technical team.’
