Malta can never have enough green spaces to roam around and take walks along. NGO ‘Let’s Do It Malta’ saw potential in a little peninsula in Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq, next to Naxxar, named Qalet Marku, and have started a year-long operation to clean it up and turn into a beautiful green area.
Over the years, Qalet Marku has been the victim of large amounts of litter, and damage caused by vehicles and open fires… however, that is all about to change.
Let’s do it Malta held their first clean up last Saturday, and had volunteers from iGaming company Blexr join them for the day. They even had support from the Minister of Environment, Aaron Farrugia, who stopped vehicles from accessing the area so that the NGO could work as best they could.
“It’s amazing to finally kick off our project to restore Qalet Marku in collaboration with the Ministry for the Environment,” environmental campaigner Cami Appelgren said.
“This is the first step towards safeguarding this area and its beauty for the coming generations.”
The plan is to have Qalet Marku transformed into an area where people can enjoy the Maltese countryside and go for leisurely walks.
‘Let’s Do It Malta’ is inviting anyone who wants to be a part of Qalet Marku’s wonderful transformations. Those who wish to join in on the clean up can follow their Facebook page and keep an eye out for their next clean up event. All you have to do is show up!
