It was once Gozo’s most famous landmark, visited by tens of thousands of tourists every week.
But it seems the island is already missing the Azure Window.
Dozens of disappointed holidaymakers have left scathing reviews on TripAdvisor, with some describing their visits to Dwejra as ‘pointless’, ‘terrible’ and ‘a complete waste of time’.
The iconic limestone arch, made famous by countless holiday postcards of Gozo, crashed into the sea during a rough storm in March.
Despite its disappearance under the waves, tour guides and sightseeing buses still stop at Dwejra as part of their visitor excursions.
But that decision has led to dozens of negative one-star reviews for a landmark that no longer exists.
One unimpressed Dutch tourist wrote: ‘I was here 10 years ago, back then I didn’t think it was so spectacular, but now there is nothing special to see. Just the coast and highly overpriced drinks and ice creams.’
Another visitor from Australia added: ‘The only reason coaches still go there is basically there is a souvenir industry set up there. Don’t waste your time.’
