Malta welcomed 4,374 babies in 2024, Finance Minister Clyde Caruana revealed in Parliament, with a growing share born to foreign parents. 🍼
Of these, 1,141 were to third-country nationals, while over 1,500 had non-Maltese parents.
The figures highlight a steady rise in births to foreign nationals over the years: in 1996, nearly all 5,038 babies were born to Maltese mothers, compared to just 246 to foreigners in 2007.
By 2023, that number had climbed to over 1,000, reflecting Malta’s changing population landscape.
