A number of volunteers gathered around the town of Kalkara to plant a total of 75 indigenous trees in different parts of the town.
This initiative was part of a larger project taken up by Saġġar, aimed to plant trees all around Malta.
Saġġar not only provided help with the initiative, but also provided the association with trees to plant.
Since the trees planted were indigenous, they will not be invasive on the green areas in the vicinity.
Species planted included Chaste Trees, Buckthorn, Tamarisk, Bay Leaf, Myrtle, Sandarac Gum Tree, Holm Oak and Christ’s Thorn.
“This is just the beginning of a project that aims to see Kalkara full of trees, and provide residents with the best possible green areas on the island.”
Well done on such a great initiative!
