Ariana’s heartfelt tribute to Mac Miller shines in the new video for ‘The Way.’

Ariana Grande has subtly paid tribute to her late ex-boyfriend Mac Miller in the new video for their first collaboration, “The Way.” 

The video is part of a deluxe edition of Grande’s debut album “Yours Truly,” released on its 10th anniversary. In the visualizer for the “Live from London” version of the song, the Yours Truly album cover comes to life, and Grande honors Miller by spotlighting the words “Feat. Mac Miller” amidst a black backdrop. 

Notably, when Miller’s rap verse begins, the music transitions from its usual production to an orchestral string arrangement. 

Their relationship began in 2013 during the creation of “The Way,” and they later started a relationship from 2016 to 2018. 

Miller passed away in 2018 due to an accidental overdose. In 2020, Ariana Grande praised Mac Miller’s dedication to music in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe “”I think that nothing mattered more to him than music, ever. And he was the kind of person who woke up and rolled into the studio, tumbled out of bed, into the studio next door”.
