Are we set for stormy weather in Malta this weekend?

We hate to break it to you but it looks like it’s going to be cloudy and wet this weekend in Malta and Gozo.

Weather experts at the Met Office in Luqa reckon we’re in for a ‘miserable’ weekend with a chance of showers on Saturday and more rain on Sunday.

Temperatures will also be slightly cooler than we’ve been experiencing recently, with highs of 23°C and lows of around 18°C.

You can also pack away your suntan lotion for 2019.

Forecasters warn the weather across the Maltese Islands will stay unsettled over the next five days.

What do the forecasters say?

Andrea Muscat from Maltese Islands Weather said: ‘The transition from summer to winter will soon reach another milestone, as a major change in weather conditions is around the corner.

‘The wettest weather is expected on Sunday and Monday when widespread showers which will be heavy and thundery at times should affect the Maltese Islands.’

Meanwhile Malta Weather predicted a ‘miserable week’ across Malta and Gozo next week.

It warned: ‘An upper-level trough of low pressure currently over the western Mediterranean is slowly heading our way and is expected to bring rain showers that may be thundery at times every day next week.

‘The main threat is heavy rain from Sunday until early Tuesday morning but this depends a lot on how strong the predicted storms are once they reach us.’

So keep your umbrella handy and look out for some gorgeous rainbows this weekend in Malta and Gozo!
