Are these the most patriotic benches in Malta?

These must be the most patriotic public benches in the Maltese Islands.

The so-called ‘flag benches’ have been installed in Qawra to help give the popular promenade a splash of colour this summer.

The idea is that you choose your country, sit down and then relax and admire the sea view.

So far the seats include Maltese flags, Union Jacks and a French Tricolour as well as the flags of Italy, Norway and Germany.

The flags of Canada, Australia, Spain, Scotland, England and Ireland are also going to be painted on benches so that no tourists feel left out.

The work is being done by the FTZD – Foundation for Tourism Zone Development and Malta’s Ministry of Tourism.
