Apple Reluctantly Confirms USB-C Charger

 

Apple is not very happy about this new change…

In an effort to lessen “trouble for customers” and “curb e-waste,” the European Parliament declared earlier this year that it will mandate the use of USB Type-C charging connectors for “all mobile phones, tablets, and cameras in the EU.”

This means that by the end of 2024 at the latest, Apple will be obliged to switch from lightning cords to USB-C.

 

 

Apple will be required to adhere to the new laws, according to senior vice presidents of software engineering Craig Federighi and global marketing Greg Joswiak in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

 

 

Joswiak claimed that “Governments get to do what they do and obviously we’ll have to comply” and that they have no choice.”
