But we’ve got a vital PSA for you! It turns out if you forget to shout out ‘UNO’ when you put your last card out, it’s not a dealbreaker, as UNO confirmed it’s just a ‘popular house rule’ on Twitter.
Recently on Twitter, a user created a poll to tackle the heated debate once and for all – and it got over 57,000 votes! 31.8% of voters thought that you could still win without shouting ‘UNO’, whilst 61.9% of the people thought it was a crucial part of the game.
While calling "UNO Out" when you play your last card is a popular House Rule, it's not required.

Now I don’t know about you, but this totally changes the game. Literally. As UNO’s social media account replied, “While calling ‘UNO Out’ when you play your last card is a popular House Rule, it’s not required. UNO has spoken”.
UNO also confirmed that you have to yell out ‘UNO’ when you play your SECOND last card, and then if you’re called out, you must take another card… Anyways! Have fun filing this announcement at your next Christmas family UNO challenge. You’re welcome.
