Another major airline is to start flying to Malta soon.
Qatar Airways outlined plans to launch the new service to and from Malta later this year.
The announcement was made by the airline’s chief executive Akbar Al Baker at the annual world tourism fair in Berlin.
He said that Qatar Airways will start new flights to Luxembourg, Lisbon and Malta and will operate a new twice-daily service to London Gatwick from May.
Qatar Airways is based in Doha and flies to around 150 international destinations using a fleet of 180 aircraft.
The airline employs more than 40,000 people around the world.
