Fabio Spiteri left Pozzallo this morning at 5am, and he is soon approaching the 100km mark, after three solid hours. Fabio is riding through Syracuse, making his way towards the north of Sicily.
Due to new laws in Sicily which does not allow driving/cycling from midnight to 5am, Fabio’s plan is to cycle 18 hrs straight with almost no break and slightly faster than planned, so that he will gain on time, and be able to stop for 5 hours to continue on Day 2.
Fabio is joined by ultra cyclists Sandro and Ciccio.
Fabio’s target is to collect €30,000 for Malta’s Animal Shelters and Organisation and up until yesterday, over €9,000 were raised.
“Animal shelters are doing a wonderful job, with limited resources, they have to give a comfortable home to abandoned animals as well as doing their best to give them the best treatment possible. Medicine, vet, and food bills run into thousands. It is unbelievable. My target is to collect a minimum of €30,000, which will be distributed to all shelters who depend on donations” Spiteri told Bay.
Funds collected will be distributed to the following organisations , Animal Care Malta Cat Sanctuary, Animal Guardians Malta, Association for Abandoned Animals Sanctuary, CSAF Sanctuary, SPCA Gozo, MSPCA, Noah’s Ark Dog Sanctuary, Stray Animals Support Group (SASG), The Island Sanctuary, Tomasina Cat Sanctuary, Animal Protectors Malta, Rescue is my Favorite Breed, Malta Rabbit Club 1963, RMJ Horse Rescue and Birdlife.
