If you are like the most of us, you find yourself on Friday evening stuck with what you are going to do this weekend, here at Bay we have decided to make your life a tad easier, and we are outlining three ideas for today, tomorrow and Sunday!
FRIDAY: The International Fireworks Festival
This massive event kicks off tonight in Xaghra, Gozo, with the first show starting at 08:50pm. Tonight expect gorgeous fireworks from the Ghaqda Ghoxrin ta’ Lulju of Sannat, Ghaqda tan-Nar Santa Marija, Zebbug, Ghaqda tan-Nar Fontana, Hmistax ta’ Awwissu Fireworks Factory of Sannat, as well as two foreign guests as La Pirotecnica Sagl of Switzerland and CSP Pyrotechnique in France will also be among the exhibitors. There will be a shuttle service from Mgarr to Xaghra and back, so you don’t even need your car for this quick getaway!
SATURDAY: Orchestra by The Sea in Marsascala
As Marsascala prepares to celebrate the Feast of St Anna, a unique concert by an even more unique orchestra is being organised tomorrow. The Palace String Orchestra is Malta’s first large-scale string orchestra, playing everything from classical pieces to current hits and timeless classics. “Orchestra by the Sea” starts at 8pm tomorrow, at the Marsascala Waterfront, and will feature performances by Amber Bondin, Aidan Cassar and Keith Zammit, who will be singing live with the Palace String Orchestra, under the director of Ryan Paul Abela.
SUNDAY: Wied iz-Zurrieq Open Weekend
Wied iz-Zurrieq is one of Malta’s most picturesque places with stunning views of the Mediterranean and the little island of Filfla, and with loads of great local eateries. Over this weekend, the Malta Tourism Authority will be organising “Destinazzjoni Wied iz-Zurrieq” with activities planned for all the family from 9am till 10pm! You can have a dip, play traditional Maltese games, visit the Blue Grotto in traditional Maltese boats. What’s more? Getting there is super easy thanks to the new Circular Bus Service, which is completely free of charge – so you will not even have to worry about parking!
