An insane amount of waste was collected in the latest of Malta’s Ocean Clean-ups

Maltese NGO Zibel, together with Raniero’s A-dventures and No to Plastic Malta have done it again, this time with an ocean clean-up at the Sirens.

They managed to collect a total of 2,159kf of waste from the ocean bed.

When separating the waste, they found a total of:

  • Recyclable Ocean Plastic 237.04 kg
  • Recyclable Ocean Plastic Bottles 64.26 kg
  • Glass 11.34 kg
  • Metal 9.38 kg
  • General 187.1 kg
  • Tyres 1310.92kg / 114 tyres
  • Fishing Gear 37.9kg
  • Batteries 10.4 kg
  • Bulky Waste 324.02 kg
  • Bottle Caps 2.5 kg

It’s insane the amount of waste that was and still is at the bottom of our gorgeous seas.

If you want to be a part of the next clean-up, you can follow their Facebook pages for more information.

A huge well done to everyone involved and thank you for helping keep Malta, especially our seas, green and clean.
