Come January, the award season opens up and with that come some great recommendations for new movies to put on your to-watch list.
To kick off the season, we have the Golden Globes of 2019, which will forever be known all over the internet as “a chock full of upsets”, feeling “a little off”, with not many surprises when it comes to winning and losing.
In a nutshell:
“Bohemian Rhapsody” won Best Picture – Drama over “A Star is Born”, even though we really thought it would take “Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy”, given all the songs, but hey! It is what it is…
Rami Malek took home “Best Actor” for his part as Freddy Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, which was well deserved.
And to celebrate this Golden Globe win, Eden Cinemas will be showing Bohemian Rhapsody in Cinema 16 between the 9th and the 15th of January. Come enjoy this fantastic, award winning movie, in THX sound.
“A Star is Born” failed to get the awards we expected. Lady Gaga did not win Best Actress for her performance and that is probably the biggest shock of the night. At least she took an award for the song “Shallow”, which, let’s face it, was stuck in our heads for days after watching the movie.
Netflix had a total of 13 nominations and managed to take home five awards. Given that everyone basically lives off of Netflix now, we really thought it would take more trophies home!
