A Sixth Maltese Player Is All Set to Feature in the Italian’s Women’s League

The Birkirkara forward Kailey Willis has become the latest Maltese young female player to embark in one of the top leagues across Europe. The 17-year old has signed for the Italian Serie A Femminile side Hellas Verona for the rest of the 2020/2021 campaign.

“Having the opportunity to be part of a professional setup abroad is always a unique chance for any athlete,” Willis told Sportsdesk.

“It is an experience that will help me develop as a player as it will enable me to improve my characteristics and add more traits to my repertoire. On the other hand, it will be also a chance for me to be independent and grow as a person as well.”

Kailey joins the likes of Haley Bugeja of Sassuolo, Lazio’s Emma Lipman and Rachel Cuschieri, Nicole Sciberras of Juventus and Martina Borg who is at Sassari Torres.

Kailey said that women’s football in Malta is flourishing, adding that it is offering more talents ready to try their luck overseas, and we cannot agree more.

Buona Fortuna from All of us Kailey!
