Cosmonaut shares stunning view of Malta from space

This is beautiful Malta from space.

A stunning image has been captured by a Russian cosmonaut hundreds of kilometres away from the Earth’s surface.

Lieutenant colonel Oleg Novitskiy snapped the island from the International Space Station, which orbits at a height of 400 km.

The picture shows Malta and Comino, with thousands of streets clearly visible.

Unfortunately, the space veteran didn’t manage to squeeze the island of Gozo into the photo frame.

He returned to the orbiting outpost in November on a six-month mission known as Expedition 50/51.
