6 Behind-The-Scenes Facts about Emily in Paris

Whether you love it or hate it, the Netflix romcom “Emily in Paris” has without a doubt taken the world by storm. And so, in honour of the recently announced renewal of the beloved series for Season 2, here are some interesting behind-the-scenes facts about the first season!

The entire series was filmed ENTIRELY in Paris, France

If you were wondering if the iconic landmark backdrops are real, such as the Eiffel Tower and the nearby Loire Valley, they are indeed!

The outfit and makeup look Emily wears to the opera in Episode 6 pays tribute to the role Audrey played in “Funny Face”.

Yep, you’re not the only one who noticed hints of Sex and the City throughout the series!

Lily Collins shared that she believes her character, Emily, probably grew up watching the show (who also has a featurette in Paris and has the same creator, Darren Star), and was inspired by Carrie Bradshaw’s style (like all of us in the early 2000s!)

The costumes were inspired by the 1951 movie “An American in Paris”

The renowned costume designer of “Emily in Paris”, Patricia Field, was strongly influenced by the movie when it came to designing the costumes.

Lily got to keep the “Pierre Cadault” dress…

The dress that Emily models in Episode 9, the one that gets splattered with paint, is actually designed by Stephanie Rolland Haute Couture. Afterwards, Rolland sent a clean version of the dress and shoes for Lily Collins to keep.

The Black Tulle skirt Emily wears in Episode 2 pays another tribute!

…But this time, it pays homage to Carrie Bradshaw’s tulle skirt in the series finale of Sex and The City (which is also romantically set in Paris).
