According to the National Statistic Office, around 56 newly licensed motor vehicles are being released onto Maltese roads each day.
Around 5,000 vehicles were newly licensed between January 2022 and March 2022 which increased the total licensed vehicles in Malta to 414,669.
It was revealed that 245,391 of these vehicles are petrol-powered and 155,761 are diesel-powered. Only 7,122 are electric or plug-in hybrid motor vehicles (accounting to only 1.7% of the whole stock).
Whilst the number of motor vehicles are increasing on the road each day, Malta is battling significant traffic issues even though there have been some major infrastructural efforts such as metro to eliminate them.
