5 brilliant things to do in Valletta this May

Garden festivals, classic cars, world renowned art, musicals and lots more – there’s lots happening this month in Valletta!

1. Valletta Green Festival

The sun is out just in time for one of the most colourful weekends in Valletta!

The Valletta Green Festival is on all weekend with flowers, hidden gems and entertainment for the young ones and those young at heart.

St George’s Square is transformed by more than 150,000 potted plants.


2. Valletta Concours d’Elegance

Calling all vintage car lovers! Malta’s first ever registered cars will on display at the Valletta Concours d’Elegance.

Two Austin Princess Vanden Plas limousines, used by The Queen during her visits to Malta, will also be among the exhibits.

The event takes place in St George’s Square on Sunday 20th May.

3. Picasso and Miro in Valletta

The Palace in Valletta has opened its doors to a remarkable collection of works by two major Spanish artists of the 20th century – Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró.

The exhibition, which runs from now until the end of June, consists of a selection of 100 etchings and 40 paintings by the legendary artists.



4. The Star of Strait Street

Based on a true story, this new musical takes us back to the wild days of Valletta’s most notorious street.

The beautiful singer Christina Ratcliffe arrives in Malta to entertain the troops in ‘The Gut’ and soon meets a dashing RAF flying ace.

The show will be performed on Tuesday 15 May at 7pm and 9pm, at the Phoenicia Hotel in Floriana.

5. Vernacular

Vernacular is an exhibition by Maltese artist Karen Caruana, running from May 11 to 26.
