Maltese biker killed in second Coast Road crash

A biker has died in yet another accident on Malta’s Coast Road.

Daryl Aloisio, 36, from Fgura, was critically injured when he slammed into a crash barrier.

He was rushed to hospital but died shortly afterwards.

A Malta Police spokesman told 89.7 Bay: ‘The man died after he was admitted to Mater Dei Hospital following the collision.

‘It appears that the motorcyclist suffered chest injuries.’

The crash happened at around 2.25pm on Monday afternoon near Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq.

Friends paid tribute on social media.

One posted on Facebook: ‘Tomorrow, we were supposed to meet but who would have ever told me that you will be in heaven. Such an amazing guy, a one in a million friend.

‘Rest in peace brother. You will be missed’.

Another added: ‘I met Daryl just yesterday. Life is so short. He was such a gentleman. R.I.P my friend.’

The tragedy comes just a day after Giulio Baldacchino lost his life in an accident on the same stretch of the Coast Road.

The biker, 44, from Mellieha was killed when he skidded into a crash barrier on Sunday morning.

His former colleagues at the Armed Forces of Malta paid tribute to him as ‘a great friend to all’.

He served in the military for 25 years and recently worked for the Revenue Security Corps.
