12 Cases of UK Variant Found in Malta, bringing the total to 15 – Prof Charmaine Gauci

Answering questions of Times of Malta readers, Malta’s Superintendent of Public Health, Prof Charmaine Gauci said that 12 new cases of the UK COVID-19 variant have been found, bringing the total to 15, as three cases were found in December.

Professor Gauci said this while also explaining the system which the authorities are using to investigate and analyse whether any of the new cases registered daily would be related to the UK Variant.

Despite this however, so far, all the three vaccines which have been authorised for use in Malta i.e. the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine, the Moderna vaccine and the AstraZeneca vaccine which is due to arrive in Malta in the coming days, have all proven to be effective against the UK variant, and other variants which exist.
